Kids Fun Day and more

More from the Festival:

It was the turn of Port Fairy Sea Scouts Hall in Bank Street to come alive as part of 3YB/Coast FM Port Fairy Moyneyana Festival with the CDB Alive Moyneyana Ticklish Allsorts Kids Fun Day with a space theme. The day was sponsored by the Moyne Gazette.

About 80 children who were mostly pre-booked were entertained by members of the Moyneyana Committee & local voluneters to a day of drama, music, interaction & craft making rockets, space ships, paper planes & card making. Ages ranged from 5-12 years old.

The children under the guidance of the colourful Ticklish Allsorts were helped to produce their own show, which they performed to parents & grandparents at the end of the day.

A new feature of the day was a segment by the Port Fairy Men's Shed with a toy making session, where children pick up a pre cut kit of a tool carrier or a dolls cradle. Both kits are pre cut & nails supplied; with the help of members of the Men's Shed the children assembled the kits. Holding nails for the children, no one got their fingers hit by a hammer! About 60 kits were used, the kits were made by the Warrnambool Triton Club & generously donated by Warrnambool City Council Fun for Kids.

A BBQ lunch was supplied by the Moyneyana Committee, with flavoured milk donated by Moyne Milk & afternoon tea ice poles donated by Streets Ice creams.

The beautiful bluestone Lecture Hall came alive in the evening with a performance by the Port Fairy Theatre Group staging "That's Your Funeral" written by Judith Prior, acted & behind scenes by local residents. What talented people we have in our community, a very funny show, with 4 performances over 3 days.

The CDB Alive Free Ticklish Allsorts Show was staged on the Village Green. Tthis is a high energy musical show with children being encouraged to participate. The morning show had about 100 children attend, with numbers down to about 30 due to the very hot afternoon, but the show was still enjoyed by all.

The Moyneyana Festival Committee has always said there is something for everyone during the festival - if you went down to Southcombe Park on Sunday, this was certainly the case; the South West Street Rodders put on their 28th Show'n'Shine. On Saturday night a dinner was held at the Port Fair Basketball Stadium for 160 members & friends. Sunday morning the Folkie arena was home to over 400 Street Rods of all different makes, classes, types & colours. There have been many hours & dollars put into getting these cars to their sparkling condition & maintaining them to be continually showed n' shining! There was also entertainment by a band & a jumping castle, slide & merry go round for the younger fans & plenty available to eat.

Sunday also was another day of FREE CDB Alive on the Village Green with the rumble of Afrobeat's four performances of motivational, interactive drumming, making use of the Moyne Shire tent.

The town heard the drums talk and their message was an invitation for people to join in and play. A fresh, vibrant and engaging event. Mohammed and Anna brought the Village Green alive with the throbbing of the drums and soon young and old together were enjoying this new event. Families, adults, children - they all participated in the sessions. An audience of those who either couldn't find a seat or were too hesitant to participate, also enjoyed the energetic drumming. Smiles were seen all around and people wandered off at the end with a lilt to their steps and a promise to come back next year.

Just another week of great Family entertainment, the motto of the Moyneyana Festival.
