Port Fairy Moyneyana Festival Committee is in Countdown, for the 61st Moyneyana Festival.

 

Port Fairy Moyneyana Festival Committee is now into count down meltdown phase; we will now be meeting every fortnight up to Christmas Eve as the planing turns into work & then fruition.

We are now into program preparation, proof reading, choosing of the design for the cover from one of the Schools in Port Fairy; with the draft copy to go to the printers by the 15th November. So here is a brief out line as to what is happening in Port Fairy during the coming holiday season. Full details times etc see the program which will be available around the Town after mid December.

Prior to Christmas the Port Fairy Rotary Club will hold the Christmas Lights Competition, of private residences, so watch out for those decorated homes; or put in an entry. Entry forms available at Brookes Hardware & Belfast Emporium.1st, 2nd, 3rd Prizes.

The Festival will start Christmas Eve on Port Fairy's Village Green, with a Christmas Tree, visit by Santa & Mrs Claus by a novel mode of transport. Also featuring on this night Port Fairy Citizens Band, Port Fairy School Choir, Port Fairy Belfast Lions Club spinning wheel for children, judging of Port Fairy Traders Window, NAB free Show Bags, Port Fairy Traders Cash draw of $1,000. Winners announced Port Fairy Rotary Club Christ Lights competition, free face painting by the Colour Angel, the Amazing Sam Suitcase, Jumping Castle, Community BBQ, so come and enjoy the fun and Christmas Spirit everyone!

The Shear-waters can be seen returning daily at dusk from the viewing platform on Griffith Island.

 Killara Camel Rides, on the beach, and short rides at George Dodds Reserve.

Cobb & Co coach rides around the Town, starting at Gipps Street in front of the Propeller at the Wharf.

Port Fairy Hospital Carnival with rides & fun from Boxing Day 7.00pm-late.

Fishing Trips & trips to Lady Julia Percy Island on the Michael J. see signage at the Wharf.

Local Hotels have live music afternoons & evenings.

Port Fairy Football Netball Club, social room & bar open from 4.00pm.

Solid Rock Cafe, at the Port Fairy Sea Scouts Hall in Bank Street, free entry, no alcohol.

Port Fairy Belfast Lions Club Art Show.

There will be a performance of Handel's Messiah, including leading Melbourne soloists & musicians with conductor Andrew Wailes, at St John's Anglican Church, tickets available at the door.

Community Craft Markets at King George Square except December 27th (Village Green) during December & January.

Port Fairy Farmer's Market where you can buy fresh produce at the Village Green Saturday January 17th.

Port Fairy S.U.F.M. Family Holiday Program at the Gardens Caravan Park December 28th - January 6th. Story telling, games, crafts mornings 10.30am-12.30pm, Concerts, drama, music, games, evenings 7.00pm-7.45pm all ages welcome Free.

Summer Movies Reardon Theatre, Bank Street 4pm & 7.30pm beginning January 1st.

Surf Movies at the Reardon Theatre, Bank Street 7.30pm every Thursday tickets at Surf Shop/Theatre all proceeds to Port Fairy Surf Life Saving Club.

Free Kite Flying Daily from 27th December, 3.00-5.00pm, Southcombe Park, kites of all types suitable for ages 2-80+

New Year's Eve, free entertainment provided by sponsors & the 3YB Moyneyana Festival Committee, live band Bushwahzee 5.30pm-7.30pm on the Village Green, Backward Sprint Championships -7.30, registration & heats 11.00am Southcombe Park. Moyneyana Street Procession (theme Community & the Sea) begins at 8.00pm followed by live music with the Borders & Claymore on the Village Green plus a midnight fireworks spectacular sponsored by Pacific Hydro.

New Years Day Community Craft Market 9.00am -2.00pm, King George Square, Gipps Street, Port Fairy Wooden & Classic Boat Festival, Noon, Whale Boat & Life Boat launch, 2.00pm main parade motor past. 3.00pm Moyneyana Duck Derby, Moyne River.

Summer by the Sea-Coast Care begins January 7th -18th most activities free, see program for full details, children under 12 yrs must be accompanied by an adult.

Uke'n Play Ukulele December 27th & 28th 10.30am & 11.15 am Lecture Hall, Sackville Street, beside the Village Green. An instant play ukulele session for beginners, adults & children 8 yrs & over are easily able to play a few chords & songs by end of session. BYO ukulele or ukuleles & instruction books available for sale at the door. Children under 12 yrs must be accompanied by an adult.

Magic with String December 30th 1.30pm-2.15 pm Community House, Bank Street for age 8-adult a workshop featuring a great variety of string games& tricks from around the world with Mike Jackson. Wild Action take a walk on the Wildside January 2nd performances 10am, 11.30am &1.00pm on the Village Green. Knowledgeable Wild Action Staff & animals will safely interact with children. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to interact safely & touch a live baby Salt- Water Crocodile, live non venomous Python Snakes, Turtles, Frogs, Skinks, Lizards & Geckoes.

Ticklish Allsorts January 7th performances 10.30am & 1.30pm on the Village Green, high energy music show.

Moyneyana Ticklish Allsorts Kids Fun Day Pirates Theme, January 8th 10am-4pm Sea Scouts Hall. A day of drama, music & interaction. Produce your own show & present it. Tickets & full information available at the Visitor Information Centre, cost $5 per child, refreshments free.

Jazz in the Park, the 3YB/Coast FM Moyneyana Festival invites you to enjoy a free concert Sunday January 11th 2.00-5.00pm at the Annie Williams Memorial Rotunda, Port Fairy Gardens with Gavin Franklin & Friends will present a summer afternoon of cool tunes. The Moyne Shire Arts & Culture Committee & Business & Tourism Unit proudly support music in the Park.
