The Moyneyana Festival will start with the friendly Community of Port Fairy meeting on the Village Green, spreading the Christmas spirit to neighbours & visitors alike; with a Christmas tree, Carols, Children's entertainment, BBQ, announcement of the winner of Port Fairy's Rotary Club Christmas lights Competition, Best Dressed Christmas Family, spinning wheels for Children run by Port Fairy Belfast Lions club, Free Show bags sponsored by NAB & a visit by Santa. How will Santa & Mrs Santa arrive this year?
One of the first attractions of the Festival will be the Port fairy Belfast Lion's Club Art Show, which opens on Monday 28th December. Art Show co-ordinator Geoff Scott encourages all Artist's to come & exhibit their work & show the Community their artistic talent. The Judge this year will be Mr Ben Fennessy from Rosebrook. There will also be a Textile Exhibition as part of the Art Show, Textile co-ordinator Jeanette Toller-Bond also encourages people to enter their work.��
The Port Fairy Men's Shed will conduct a Toy Making session; on the CDB Alive Children's Entertainment Day, where children will be able to make, under supervision, a Doll's Cradle or a Tool Carrier. These kits have been donated by Warrnambool City Council's Fun for Kids. The Kits are all pre-cut ready to be assembled by the Children.��
The Moyneyana Festival Raffle is up & running, in aid of Free Entertainment for Children during the Festival, this will be drawn on Australia Day. There are some great prizes; 2 Port Fairy Folk Festival Tickets, 2 nights' accommodation at Couta Hill, a Lady's Watch from Belfast Emporium, a night's accommodation for 2 Adults at Port Fairy Motor Inn, Meal for 2 at Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant, 2hours Babysitting Coastal Child Care, plus spot prizes, all these prizes have been generously donated by those business. How well does Port Fairy do it everyone supports each other.��
New Year's Eve will see the running of the Retro Race, with heats taking place at Southcombe Park & the Race being run in Sackville Street. This a race with a difference, you run backwards, not as easy as you think so come & try running in reverse!��
The Committee hopes that you are well into planning your Floats for the New Year's Eve Parade with the theme "Astronomy-The Universe- Yours to Discover" Entry forms are available at the Visitor Information Centre, in Bank Street, at Railway Place. The Committee again stresses no throwing of water bombs, those floats who throw water bombs will automatically disqualified from being awarded a prize. A water bomb is determined to be a missile & could lead to a charge of assault from the Police.��
New Year's Day will see Port Fairy's Surf Life Saving Club run the " Duck Derby" on the beautiful Moyne at wharf at King George's Square, so support the Club & buy yourself a duck.��
The Environmental Day, "Go- Green on the Green" will be held on Friday 15th January 2010 at Port Fairy's Village Green 10.00am-4.00pm.��
Program preparation is well underway, with proof reading taking place at the moment before going to print, with programs available about mid December. Moyneyana Festival Committee members will distribute copies to business around Port Fairy, Warrnambool & districts.��
